Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 11, 2026

This Privacy Policy sets out how personal information and data are handled in “Docchie”, a photo A/B testing service.

01Introduction

Smile Comfort LLC (the “Company”) establishes this Privacy Policy (this “Policy”) for the handling of the personal information and data of users in “Docchie” (the “Service”), a photo A/B testing service. The Company complies with the laws, regulations and guidelines on the protection of personal information.

02Information We Collect

The Company collects the following information in providing the Service.

  • Account information: email address, credentials, login information from external authentication services, and identifiers used to identify anonymous users
  • Profile information: display name and age band; previously registered profile values may remain until updated or deleted
  • User content: photos of yourself, preset profile questions, human responses, reason tags, AI presentation advice, safety screening results, reports and blocks
  • Transaction information: point balance and usage history, and transaction identifiers for App Store in-app purchases
  • Technical information: IP address, user agent, and cookies, session data and credentials stored on the device

03Purposes of Use

The Company uses the information it collects for the following purposes.

  • Registering, authenticating and managing accounts
  • Distributing comparisons of photos of the submitter, aggregating human responses, and displaying separate AI presentation advice
  • Checking age eligibility and managing profiles; profiles are not generally disclosed to other users and are not used to offer demographic audience selection
  • Granting and spending points, and processing in-app purchases
  • Preventing and responding to misuse, impersonation and breaches of the terms
  • Responding to inquiries and sending important notices
  • Improving the quality of the Service, developing new features, and analyzing usage
  • Responding as required by laws and regulations

04Handling Photos and AI Feedback

After safety screening, submitted photos are shown for a limited period to users answering comparisons. Only the submitter can view results. Photos use access-limited URLs, but respondents can see them; do not submit private, sensitive or unauthorized material. You can close a comparison to stop collecting responses.

Human responses and preset reason tags are shown to the submitter in aggregate without identifying individual respondents. AI presentation advice is displayed separately; AI never supplies simulated votes. Free-form public comments and direct messaging are not available.

With your consent before submission, photos of yourself and your selected profile question are sent to Google’s Gemini API for automated safety screening and AI advice about your expression, hairstyle, outfit and presentation. Google is a third-party processor and may process data outside your country. Do not submit photos if you do not agree to this processing. Processing and retention by Google depend on the applicable Gemini API terms and the service configuration; we do not promise that Google immediately deletes inputs or never uses them for service improvement. You may request deletion of data held by Docchie using the contact details below.

05Use of Third-Party Services

To provide the Service, the Company uses external services for the database, image storage, web and API hosting, authentication, payment, image analysis, usage analytics, font delivery and similar functions. Information handled by those services is treated in accordance with the privacy policy of each provider.

To improve the quality of the Service, the Company sends usage data — such as screen navigation, feature usage, and whether a purchase was made — to an external analytics service. The information sent is usage data, an internal user identifier issued by the Company, the user's age band, and environment information such as the device model, OS and language settings; photos and images, names and email addresses are not sent to the analytics service. The analytics service also infers an approximate region from the IP address of the connection. The Company does not use this data for advertising-related tracking and does not track users across other companies' apps or websites.

06Provision to Third Parties and Outsourcing

The Company does not provide personal information to third parties without the consent of the user, except in the following cases.

  • Where the user concerned has given consent
  • Where required by laws and regulations, or where necessary to protect the life, body or property of a person
  • Where the Company outsources work such as hosting, storage or payment processing, to the extent necessary to achieve the purposes of use
  • Where information is provided in connection with a business succession

Some of these external services may store or process information outside Japan. The Company exercises the supervision necessary to ensure that its contractors take appropriate security measures.

07Retention Period

The Company retains the information it collects for the period necessary to achieve the purposes of use. Even after an account is deleted, information necessary for statutory retention obligations, payment and transaction records, the prevention of misuse or other legitimate purposes may be retained, limited to the extent and period necessary.

08Requests for Disclosure, Correction and Deletion

Users may request the disclosure, correction, suspension of use, deletion and similar handling of their personal information through the contact point at the end of this Policy. The Company will confirm that the request comes from the person concerned and will respond in accordance with the law.

Users can delete their account themselves at any time from the "Profile" screen of the app. Deleting an account also deletes the related data, including account information, registered photos and images, questions and votes. However, the information described in the preceding section may continue to be retained.

Depending on your location and applicable law, you may also have rights to access, correct, erase or receive a copy of your data, object to or restrict processing, withdraw consent, and complain to your local data protection authority. Contact support@docchie.com to exercise your rights. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing already lawfully completed; photo submission requires consent to the described processing.

09Cookies and Information Stored on the Device

The Service uses cookies, session information and credentials stored in a secure area of the app in order to keep users signed in and to authenticate them. These are necessary to provide the Service, and if a user disables them, parts of the Service may become unavailable.

10Security Measures

The Company takes the measures necessary and appropriate for security, including preventing the leakage, loss or damage of the information it collects.

11Changes to This Policy

The Company may change this Policy as necessary. The amended content applies from the time it is posted on the Service. The Company will notify users of significant changes by reasonable means.
